![]() As part of a nationwide closure programme, Lloyd's has announced that the Summertown branch will close on 21 July. The shop, in the unit previously occupied by the launderette on South Parade, is planned to open next Monday You can visit their site to see what they have to offer. Īrt-K, a franchise providing weekly classes and holiday art workshops for ages 6-18, is opening in Summertown. It might also be significant that the owner of the Co-op building also owned Suffolk House which has recently been bought by another landlord and is going to be demolished. This store is said to have more visits that any other store in the group, but has apparently been making a loss for some time as a result of extremely high rents. Midcounties Co-operative say they are trying to find another store to take over the Post Office counter, which was installed after a long campaign led by our then local Councillor Jeane Fookes. It will continue to trade normally up to that point but it will be a sad day when it closes. ![]() We are sorry to say that we now have official confirmation that the Summertown Co-op will close in about six months.
